"I think your product is exceptional." Brent Rothschild / Ranger, US Park Police ----- "I love it! Great on the bike. I tested it today at a basketball game to see if the background noise would be a problem...it worked great. I also tested with a balaclava over it and still worked good. I am so impressed." Officer Jeff Shari/Cincinnati Police Department ----- "...There were no problems with fitting the headset, ...and reported that once it is on, you quickly forget its there. It has withstood the great British weather..." Sergeant Charlie Irvine 99KF London Metroplitan Police London, England ----- "...fantastic, very reliable and crystal clear. ...you have designed a great headset. ... I have used many different types of mics and the Blue Racer is the best, by far." Sgt. David Santiago Bike Patrol Commander Anne Arundel Community College, Arnold, MD ----- "...it worked wonderfully and flawlessly. I received rave reviews from the dispatchers and other officers who told me that the transmissions were clear and easily understood as compared to our current shoulder mics." Officer Dave Hildebrand, Denton PD,Texas ----- "Thanks for the opportunity to review your product. This is the best mic system that we have tested. I requested 6 of them.", Sergeant Tom Donalson, Katy ISD Police Department, TX ----- "Thanks for sending us the Blue Racer. The headset worked quite well for us. I would recommend it to any department looking for a quality bike unit headset! ", Officer Jeffrey Natsyn, S. Whitehall, PA. PD ----- "Thanks for the opportunity to test your product. It worked fine and I was impressed with the ability to communicate under conditions which were previously challenging.", Lt. Kevin Velzy, SUNY Oswego University, NY. PD ----- Thanks for your demonstration at the IPMBA Conference.  By the way, I spent a considerable amount of time looking at and using your competitor's headset that was also at the conference and it paled in comparison.  You have done a great job not only in the production of the headset, but the promotion and marketing aspects as well. Officer Rob Peterson, Team Leader, Las Cruces Police Department, New Mexico----- Thank you for your email, and for the headset. You have all been great to deal with and I look forward to doing further business with you. I will certainly pass my experience with your company on to other colleagues in the market for headsets. Patrolman Jason Andrews. Windham Police Department, Maine----- I should mention that our request for your headsets comes purely upon the recommendation of our colleagues across the Metropolitan Police District and none of them have had a bad word to say about the Blue Racer. Bill Smart, London Metro Police, Woolwich Sector, UK-----

The Blue Racer upper headset frame weighs only 6.5 ounces yet provides the durability and ruggedness necessary for daily use in the demanding arenas of Police and EMS Bike Units, The low profile, behind-the -head band design elminates the conflicts associated with helmets, chin-strapping systems and eyewear. The clock-spring steel headband is bendable inward or outward to accomodate varying head sizes. The Military Special Forces-style, noise canceling microphone is encapsulated on an articulated boom arm and designed to be worn out and away from the corner of the mouth, approximately two inches. When the PTT button is activated, the noise-canceling microphone eliminates the transmission of ambient noise from the operator's environment (ex. wind and traffic) and focuses on the operator's voice -- providing crystal clear voice transmission to Dispatch and fellow Police Officers or EMS Technicians. It is crucial that the microphone be positioned and worn in the suggested manner -- this serves dual purposes:

1. It allows for the noise-canceling element to work properly, filtering out unwanted noise and concentrating/focusing on transmitting the user's voice.

2. By positioning it properly, away from the front and to the side of the mouth, this prevents the element from possibly being smashed against the front of the mouth as the result of an accident or altercation with a suspect.

Each Blue Racer headset comes with your choice of 2 customizeable (see below) Acoustic Voice Tubes for radio transmission receiving. Photo #1 depicts the style featuring an 'ear bud' on the end of the mounting tube -- allowing an operator to position the 'bud' just outside of or in the ear canal opening. Photo #2 depicts the more streamlined version of Acoustic Voice Tube. This design allows an operator to have the voice tube positioned just outside the ear canal opening without making contact with the skin.

Both sets of Acoustic Voice Tubes are provided with excess tubing allowing an operator to properly position the Blue Racer on his/her head securely and measure the Acoustic Voice Tube length necessary to provide optimal receive audio and comfort. With the assistance of a fellow professional, a mark can be placed on the Acoustic Voice Tube with a permanent marker (Photo A), removed from the headset Acoustic Voice Tube stem (Photo B), trimmed with scissors (Photo C) and replaced onto the Acoustic Voice Tube stem (Photo D). There is no need to push or bend the Voice Tube to fit. By following the previous steps, you can be assured of a comfortable, yet reliable, personal fit.
The streamlined inline push-to-talk system of the Blue Racer allows an operator to choose his/her personal preference for positioning of the PTT. Each PTT housing features an alligator-style clip which allows the PTT system to be positioned at mid-chest level on a shirt or jacket yoke or placket, mounted on the right or left epaulet or some teams have even chosen to position the PTT on the hip of the belt. Our custom service allows you to specify cable lengths commensurate with your choice of PTT positioning. The demo headset you will receive, for field test and evaluation, features the standard headset cable length, down to the PTT system, of 18 inches but that can be customized for you during the manufacturing of your order.

Each headset cable also features an adjustable cable clip. This allows a team who, for instance, may share a Blue Racer among more than one user, to move excess headset cable out of the way. In this scenario, we recommend the standard headset cable length of 18 inches. Each user of the Blue Racer can then move excess cable out of the way (over their shoulder, for example) by using the clothing cable clip. Depending upon personal PTT positioning preference and/or overall torso height -- the clothing cable clip will allow operators to gain or reduce headset cable length.
Optional Inline Quick Disconnect Model BR-1. We make this option available to officers who may prefer an inline quick disconnect on the headset cable for convenience. This style of disconnect is 'user manipulated' -- the two components are pushed together or pulled apart by an officer via a steel sleeve release. This allows, for instance, an officer to remove the headset during a break while keeping the inline PTT, radio interface cable and radio connector on the body. Photo to the right depicts the inline system connected.
Optional Inline Quick Disconnect Model BR-2. We make this option available to officers who prefer an added level of safety generally not found on traditional speaker mikes. This system if desired, should be integrated into the headset cable. This model is 'pressure-sensitive', meaning if a suspect grabbed the headset cable, the inline would pull apart -- separating the upper headset assembly from the lower inline PTT system and radio connector. Left and right photos depict inline in closed and open positions respectively.
We would like to thank the Topeka, Kansas Police Bike Unit for their continuous support, encouragement and input during the development of the Blue Racer headset and for assisting us in the action photography used throughout this website and on the Blue Racer Limited Edition Poster. Sgt. Jim Roy, Cpl. Pat Hannan, Officers Artie Gonzales, Damon Whisman, Jerry Monasmith, Jeff Holtzman and Mark Hilt. It was an honor and privilage to have the opportunity to work with such a professional group.
